I have heard many times before people ask the question, “Why doesn't God do miracles anymore?” First we have to understand that a miracle is something that cannot be scientifically explained. And because that what a miracle is I can honestly say God performed a miracle in our lives. It all started about six months ago. Jacque and I had been trying to get pregnant for a while and just like Abraham and Sarah we were having no luck. We went to see her doctor, only to find out that she had fibroids, and it wouldn't be possible for her to get pregnant naturally. Following the doctors instructions we scheduled a hysterectomy. The week came and Jacque was supposed to get the procedure done on Thursday, but on Monday we got the first part of our miracle. We found out she was pregnant. Needless to say her doctor was shocked. He explained that this would be a very high-risk pregnancy and could be a problem. In Jacques eleventh week of pregnancy she started having terrible pains. We went to the emergency room and met with her doctor. Since “he had never seen a case like this” (his words), he sent us to the head of OB at the University of Chicago. After he examined her and her ultrasound the doctor said that we had two options. We could terminate the pregnancy or go through with it knowing that it could end badly. We of course decided to move forward. We later found out from Jacque’s doctor that this expert that there would be no way possible for her to carry the baby past 20 weeks. At the 25 week mark Jacque was having labor pains and started to bleed. We rushed her to the hospital and they stopped the bleeding. At that point her doctor though if we could somehow get her to 28 weeks it would be amazing. Jacque held strong (stronger than I could ever be) and for 80 days she sat in a hospital bed waiting. Then the day came for our daughter to be born. The
c-section went a lot easier than the doctor expected, and we were blessed with our little girl. Naomi Elizabeth Miller was born at 6lbs 7 ounces. We are now home, and Naomi is sleeping lying next me while I type. I can’t help but look at her and thank God for truly performing a miracle. So when you hear someone ask, “Why doesn't perform miracles anymore?” You tell them about Naomi, the little girl that science and medical professionals said wasn't possible and couldn't survive, but was given as miracle to her parents who had fervently prayed for her. “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Genesis 18:14a
Thank you to all of you that lifted us up in prayer during this time. We are so thankful to you all that prayed for us and helped us.
