Ranting on the Grammys

Alright for a long time the Grammys have been thought of as the "old musicians" awards. Whenever some old group makes something that gets a little critical acclaim, they rain down Grammys on it like it was the second coming. This year was no different. Robert plant and alison krauss was this year's Steely Dan. The one exception seems to be the Best Rap Album category. Every year they simply give it to the Rap Album that sells the most albums. This year Lil Wayne won. The problem is that despite all the hype he gets, Wayne is an average talent at best. Every one of his songs sounds the same: guns, hos, and money (we get it). His rhyme style is terrible. He spits 8 bars, then jumps to a 12, and then a 16. His lyrics are anything but innovative. Many times he can't even think of a word to rhyme so he just uses the same word. So either the Grammys need to get someone who knows hip hop or maybe they should just listen to the albums.

If anyone is wondering who I though should win, it's Lupe Fiasco. His song Dumb it Down was better than Lil Wayne's whole album. He's an MC who can actually flow. His lyrics are innovative and different than the status quo. He is an actual artist.
